Royal Mint 2014 Year of Horse Coin Collection



Starting from 2014 each year the Royal Mint plans to release a series of lunar coins for each the 12 zodiac animals. 2014 starts with the year of the horse. Artist Wuon-Gean Ho has been commissioned to design all 12 coins.

There are 5 coins in the year of the Horse series.

In addition to the higher quality proof coins, a quantity of bullion coins are also to be struck in silver and gold and sold via the Royal Mint's new bullion service: https://www.royalmintbullion.com/Bullion Coins
Bullion coins come with the words "1 OZ FINE GOLD 999.9" or "1 OZ FINE SILVER 999" under the heading on the reverse of the coin.

Gold Coins:      30,000
Silver Coins :  300,000

Silver Mules

An estimated 38,000 of the silver coins (around 13%) were struck accidentally with the Britannia bullion's obverse. These mules sell for between £80 - £120.
